Addiction Medicine Fellowship – Seattle, WA

The Swedish Family Medicine Cherry Hill Residency sponsors a one year fellowship in addiction medicine for FP residency.  Completion of the fellowship qualifies the graduate to sit for the certification exam administered by the American Society of Addiction Medicine.  The purpose of the Fellowship is to provide advanced training to Family Medicine physicians interested in developing expertise in addiction medicine, dual diagnosis and chronic pain disorders.



Fellows spend the majority of their time working at the Swedish-Ballard inpatient addiction recovery unit.  The unit provides 15 inpatient beds for detoxification primarily from alcohol, sedative-hypnotics, and opiates. In addition, the site has 14 beds devoted to the care of pregnant women with substance use disorders where fellows provide detoxification, medical and obstetrical care.  The fellows spend 20% of their time seeing general clinic patients and precepting in the residency clinic at Swedish Family Medicine Cherry Hill and 10% of their time is spent in the OB Outreach clinic within the residency seeing substance dependent pregnant women.
