Clinical Year Photos – 2013

The clinical phase of the MEDEX program emphasizes the development and solidification of clinical skills needed for the delivery of primary care.  The core family medicine preceptorship is four months in length.  Typical sites for this experience are private practices, HMOs, community health centers and Indian Health Service clinics.  Students see a wide range of primary care problems and also are assigned to visit patients in their homes for preventive care encounters.  The shorter rotations (clerkships) are behavioral medicine, emergency medicine, general surgery, inpatient internal medicine, an experience in a medically underserved setting, and one elective.
