Assistant Teaching Professor, Didactic Faculty

I was born and raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi, where I first became interested in the field of medicine.  I did not realize how much healthcare was a privilege until I moved to Washington. I was accustomed to the lack of or delay of care in the South.

Here in Seattle, I attained my Bachelor of Science at University of Washington in Seattle in Biology. I was a research technician at Benaroya Research Institute involved in immunology research for 7 years until I decided to pursue being a physician assistant. I transitioned to working as a medical assistant at the UW Neighborhood Clinic at Northgate with the UW Family Medicine Residency Program.

My work in Family Medicine as an MA was a benchmark where I not only learned so much in primary care but also how exposure to other places would broaden my perspective in life. This led to my next chapter in California, where I graduated from Samuel Merritt University in Oakland in 2017. After working in rural emergency medicine in Central California to be with family, I returned to Washington in 2019.  I worked in urgent care for 2 years during the pandemic, and transitioned to Overlake Hospital Emergency Department Observation Unit and ER.

I joined the MEDEX program to promote and cultivate the next generation of PAs as our community needs us more than ever. The strains of the pandemic have made the demand for more providers so much more evident.  The enthusiasm of our dedicated students reinvigorates my own passion for medicine.
