Rural obstetrical care workforce: a state-level analysis

Abstract

Tracking trends in the rural health care workforce is critical for identifying potential gaps and developing targeted solutions to ensure an optimal supply of health professionals to care for rural communities.This project will describe each state’s obstetrical care workforce supply, including obstetricians, advanced practice midwives, and midwives, in each state’s rural and urban counties. State and local governments, organizations, and advocates may utilize this data to describe the rural workforce in their state, with comparisons to the rural and urban workforce supply nationally.

A select number of states are currently available. Additional states will be added soon.
