Webinar: Improving Access to Oral Health Care for Rural, Tribal and Underserved Communities

Oral health among rural, underserved, and Tribal settings has been an ongoing challenge as poor oral health issues can result in visits to emergency rooms, and is often a precursor to various acute and chronic conditions. This regional webinar, hosted by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs (IEA) Region 10 on January 12, 2023, highlighted oral health resources, including the dental therapy model and how it may be used to provide preventative services to rural-based, Tribal, and underserved patients, and provided information on HRSA oral health programs. HRSA host: Cheryl Altice, IEA Region 10. Facilitator: Susan Skillman, UW CHWS Sr. Deputy Director and Washington Oral Health Workforce Tracking Program Director. Also presenting from Washington: Rachael Hogan, Dental Director, Swinomish Indian Tribal Community Dental Clinic.
