Our family medicine residency is located in the beautiful city of Seattle, and is the only academic medical center in Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho (WWAMI). Excellence in education and an emphasis on quality patient care are hallmarks of training at UW.
With this in mind, our Health Equity vision is for every resident, staff, and faculty to be a role model, educator, and leader to transform healthcare to achieve health equity. To accomplish this, we have developed a robust Health Equity curriculum that equips family medicine residents with the knowledge, skills, and reflective practice needed to identify, address, and reduce inequities in clinical care, education, community engagement, and advocacy.
Our Health Equity Scholarship for visiting 4th year medical students completing a sub-internship with our residency is a part of this effort to further our vision.
Whether leading a medicine team at one of Seattle’s major hospitals or caring for patients at a community practice site in Alaska or Montana, our residents are on the cutting edge of training in family medicine. We encourage you to not only apply to our residency, but to consider this unique opportunity to experience resident life in Seattle with us.
What’s in the Scholarship:
- Stipend to offset the costs of transportation, meals, and housing during the rotation
- Participation in our robust residency curriculum including clinical and educational activities
