Responsibility for Non-nursing Tasks: Does This Look Different Among Nurses Providing Care in Underserved Populations Versus Other Nurses?
Description:
Data suggest that spending time on non-nursing tasks (NNTs) decreases RNs’ autonomy and job satisfaction, leading to burnout and turnover intention; such job outcomes may be further exacerbated by challenges in the practice environment such as reduced staffing or caring for populations with complex needs. This study will examine NNT time and job outcomes among different RN job types, geographic areas, and RNs serving different populations such as patients with more complex care needs.
