Pregnancy to Menopause: Who Is the Workforce Specializing in Women’s Health Care and How Has Their Distribution Changed Over Time?
Description:
Adequate access to women’s health care is a critical part of supporting better health outcomes in this population. Most research examining the availability of the women’s health workforce has focused on those providing maternal care, limiting ability to fully understand the impact of this workforce across the spectrum of women’s health needs. To address this, we will engage in a comprehensive literature review and policy analysis to examine which occupations comprise the women’s health workforce and describe their scopes of practice and usual activities with respect to this work. We will also examine how their geographic distribution has changed over time.
