Impacts of Skilled Nursing Facility Change of Ownership on Staffing
Description:
Two issues facing the Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) industry have received significant national attention: 1) staffing of nursing occupations (i.e., registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, and certified nursing assistants) and 2) transparency of SNF ownership structures and ownership changes. However, there has been minimal effort to understand the relationships between the two, especially for staffing of direct care occupations beyond nursing. This study examined the impacts of ownership changes on staffing across occupations in SNFs.
