Estimating Separate National Supply Characteristics of Healthcare Technician and Technologist Occupations with Combined Federal Standard Occupation Classification Codes
Description:
The federal Standard Occupation Classification (SOC) system assigns numeric coding to classify workers and jobs across industries, including healthcare1. This study will estimate separate supply characteristics of the healthcare technician and technologist occupations which are combined in single SOC codes or are commonly reported in combined form in national statistical data on these workforces. We will obtain data from states, professional organizations, and other sources that provide separate estimates of the relative supply size and characteristics of related technician and technologist occupations and will apply these estimates (likely ranges of estimates) to recent national combined supply data to estimate the national supply size and characteristics of each independent occupation studied.
