Administration
Katie Clements left the Clinical Faculty Coordinator position in June after two years serving as the Department’s Clinical Faculty Coordinator to work at The Whole Pup in Edmonds. Katie was replaced by Rachele Cathey in August; Rachele had previously worked with UW Commuter Services.
Chris Carlton-Bishop, Department IT Manager, left his role in early August after 13 years with the Department. He left for a promotion position as an End Device Support Operations Supervisor with UW Medicine IT Services.
MEDEX NW
Terry Scott, MPA, PA-C, was announced as the new Section Head and Program Director for MEDEX Northwest effective July 1, 2015.
Medical Student Education
Tomoko Sairenji, MD, joined the Department as Acting Assistant Professor in the Medical Student Education Section on September 1, 2015. She will be working with the Family Medicine Clerkship, Advising Program and Advanced Clerkships and doing clinical work at the Northgate Clinic. Dr. Sairenji graduated from Okayama University Medical School, Okayama, Japan, did a junior residency at Aso-Iizuka Hospital, Fukuoka, Japan, and then came to the USA where she completed her Family Medicine residency at University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Shadyside, Pittsburgh, PA, where she also served as Chief Resident. Following her residency, Dr. Sairenji completed a two-year in Faculty Development Fellowship at UP Department of Family Medicine, which included being a Visiting Scholar at the American Board of Family Medicine, Lexington, KY, and was awarded a Master of Science in Medical Education. Dr. Sairenji is married to Vincent Chiu, an Administrative Fellow at Seattle Children’s Hospital. They have a baby girl, Mari, born last January.
Research
Eric Mose joined in May as Grant Specialist; Evelyn Chanasyk as Program Assistant in June; Malaika Schwartz and Brooke Ike in July, both as Research Scientists.
BIRTHS
Rowan Gerald Fitch born June 28 to Jaime and Brad Fitch. Jaime is the Underserved Pathway Program Coordinator in the Medical Student Education Section.
Jude was born April 22 to Becca and Sean Snyder. Becca is a faculty member in the Palliative Care Section.
Grayson Kai Zhang Chan was born May 25 to Ying Zhang. Ying is the NRSA fellow in the Research Section.
