DESCRIPTION
The COVID-19 pandemic is not only causing devastating short term impacts on individuals and communities, but also leading to longer term physical and mental health effects on some individuals. The INSPIRE Registry aims to help us understand the how often these ‘long haul’ effects of COVID-19 occur, and who is most at risk. We are using an innovative patient-controlled platform called HUGO, which allows individuals to hold their own medical record and research data, and then share it with our research team with their permission.
This study is a collaboration between three core sites, namely University of Washington, Yale University and Rush Medical Center, as well as five other sites in major centers nationally.
WHAT IS THE TECHNOLOGY’S POTENTIAL IMPACT ON PRIMARY CARE?
The COVID-19 pandemic has fundamentally disrupted life for vast numbers of individuals, and longer term impacts of this infection may cause ongoing significant burden for affected individuals. Understanding who is most at risk, and how and when the physical and mental health impacts of this infection occur, is going to be critical to help better support individuals with these complications.
WHAT IS PCI-Lab Doing?
We have roles both in the Clinical Coordinating Core, which is overseeing data collection in the 8 participating recruitment sites nationally, as well as part of the UW recruitment for this cohort study. As data accumulates we will have a key role in analysing and reporting out our findings.
