University of Washington Medical Student Fellowship

The Medical Student Education Fellowship at the University of Washington is designed to train future leaders, including academic faculty, in Medical Student Education. The fellowship is a one-year post-residency training opportunity focusing on further developing skills and expertise in all aspects of medical student education including advising, preclinical and clinical teaching, curriculum development, educational scholarship and research, and leadership development.

The Fellowship consists of longitudinal clinical experiences in primary care. Currently, the University of Washington only considers applicants with training in family medicine.

Minimum Screening Requirements

Applications will be considered for interviews only after the initial cover letter, personal statement and three letters of recommendation have been received.  Applicants are expected to have completed an ACGME accredited or AOA recognized Family Medicine residency program in the U.S. and be board eligible or board certified in Family Medicine by their fellowship start date. Applicants must also be legally eligible to work in the United States.

Copy of USMLE/COMLEX transcript

Personal Statement

The personal statement is the primary component that will be used to select applicants who are invited for an interview. Limit this statement to 750 words and cover the following topics: 

  1. Medical education experience
  2. Scholarship and Teaching interest
  3. Diversity equity and inclusion contributions
  4. Future career plans?
