Dr. Samira Farah, MD
Faculty Director, UW FMIG

Dr. Farah is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Washington and is the Director of the Family Medicine Interest Group (FMIG) as well as the Underserved Pathway. She also sees patients at the Family Medicine clinic at Harborview.

 

Dr. Farah was born in Somalia but grew up in Washington. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Washington and graduated medical school from the University of Washington School of Medicine. She completed her residency at Valley Family Medicine Residency Program.

Ivan Henson
Manager, UW FMIG

Ivan Henson manages the Department of Family Medicine, Medical Student Education section, where he has worked since 2012. Ivan is an academic advisor and an advisor for the UW FMIG as well as managing the Family Medicine Sub-Internship. Ivan is passionate about training the next generation of family physicians and finds working with medical students immensely rewarding.

 

Originally from Oregon, Ivan enjoys gardening, travel, and anything to do with nature.

Alisse Cassell
Staff Advisor, UW FMIG

Alisse Cassell is a staff advisor for UW FMIG. She loves connecting students with family physicians and other resources, helping students coordinate events, and continuing to learn about all the ways that family physicians are critical for the health of our communities. Alisse also manages the Underserved Pathway and supports the Washington AHEC program office.

 

Alisse passionately pursues all kinds of adventures in the mountains, but most especially ones involving backcountry skiing, mountaineering, and gravel biking. When she is indoors, she enjoys reading and writing.
