Individual Advising Appointments

Advising appointments are available to you at any point from career exploration in the first year to residency applications in the fourth. To schedule an appointment with an advisor, please fill out our Advising Intake Form.

Meet the Advisors

Tomoko Sairenji

Dr. Sairenji is the director of the FM Career Advising Program and is a College head and faculty within the UWSOM. She enjoys inpatient (Northwest Hospital) and outpatient medicine (UWPC Northgate Clinic) as a family physician. Dr. Sairenji graduated from Okayama University Medical School and did a junior residency in Fukuoka, Japan, and values her Japanese heritage and community. She completed FM residency at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh, PA, where she also served as Chief Resident. Dr. Sairenji is passionate about medical education, and enjoys supporting students in their interest in Family Medicine. Through Advising, she feels meaning in helping individuals discover a career that brings them joy and a sense of purpose. She believes that all experiences as a human can make you a better family physician.

Jeanne Cawse-Lucas

Dr. Cawse-Lucas attended medical school at the University of Massachusetts and completed her residency training at Swedish Cherry Hill Family Medicine in Seattle. In addition to her role advising medical students, Jeanne is the co-director of the Family Medicine Clerkship and practices full spectrum family medicine at the UW Northgate Clinic. Her professional interests include underserved care and legislative leadership, and she was also the 2012-13 President of the King County Academy of Family Physicians (KCAFP).

Robin Christian

Dr. Christian attended medical school at the University of Colorado. He completed an intern year in OB/gyn at Rutgers-NJMS, then found his passion in family medicine and completed his residency at University of Massachusetts. In addition to advising students, he practices at UW Primary Care in Mountlake Terrace as well as the multidisciplinary Wound Care Clinic at Northwest Hospital. His passions in family medicine include medical education, gender affirming care, mental health, reproductive justice, and the care of marginalized populations.
