The Role of Public Health Nurses in Doing Health Equity Work
Description:
Public health nurses (PHNs) have a responsibility to address social determinants of health (SDOH) and health inequities. This role requires specific training and competencies in health equity; however, research is lacking regarding nurses’ proficiency in these competencies. This study examined PHNs’ capacity to address SDOH through exploring PHNs’ health equity work, skill proficiencies, and training needs.
