State Support for Community College and Diversity in Health Professions Programs
Description:
Community colleges provide an entry point into a variety of health professions and serve a more diverse student population than four-year colleges and universities on average, presenting an opportunity to increase diversity in the health workforce. We will describe the current status of state financial support for students in health professions programs at community colleges. Then we will examine trends in completions and attrition rates for health professions programs in community colleges overall and completions among underrepresented racial and ethnic groups before and after implementation of state support and by type of support.
