Examining the Effect of the Pandemic on the Diversity of the RN Workforce

Description:

The COVID-19 pandemic has taken a toll on the registered nurse (RN) workforce, who report high levels of burnout and intent to leave healthcare, and data suggest disproportionate impacts on RNs who identify as Black, Indigenous, or other People of Color (BIPOC, inclusive of any person experiencing racial/ethnic discrimination). In this study, we aim to quantify disparate effects of the pandemic on employment and work characteristics for RNs, including BIPOC RNs and those experiencing discrimination in the workplace based on gender, age, or disability, and to examine additional potential effects due to education (e.g., associate degree versus bachelor’s degree).
