CHWS team partnering with Workforce Board to inform Washington State legislators on long-term care workforce needs

Investing in the long-term care (LTC) workforce is a priority for Washington state policymakers. In partnership with the Washington state Workforce Training and Education Coordinating Board, a team of researchers at the Center for Health Workforce Studies led by Dr. Tracy Mroz, Associate Professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at University of Washington is investigating the underlying causes of workforce shortages and other challenges, including linkages between staffing and quality care outcomes. This research will create the foundation for identifying metrics to be used for establishing the needs of LTC and their ability to provide quality care for Washingtonians. Early results from ongoing research were recently shared in the “Washington Long-Term Care Workforce Initiative Legislative Report.”
