rural-hospital“With 27 percent of the U.S. landmass and 3.3 percent of the population, Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho are among the most rural areas of the country,” according to a report recently published in Academic Medicine. This AMA report examines the UW School of Medicine’s rural health curriculum, which includes WWAMI, TRUST, RUOP, and WRITE. As the only four-year MD-granting medical school in the five-state region, UWSOM is one of the new members of the AMA Accelerating Change in Medical Education Consortium and admits 240 students per year.
