{"id":3269,"date":"2020-10-12T22:27:10","date_gmt":"2020-10-12T22:27:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/depts.washington.edu\/fammed\/rhrc\/?p=3269"},"modified":"2021-09-13T16:18:45","modified_gmt":"2021-09-13T23:18:45","slug":"wwami-rural-health-research-center-receives-federal-office-of-rural-health-policy-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/familymedicine.uw.edu\/rhrc\/2020\/10\/12\/wwami-rural-health-research-center-receives-federal-office-of-rural-health-policy-funding\/","title":{"rendered":"WWAMI Rural Health Research Center News &#8211; New Projects and Leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3268 size-medium alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/familymedicine.uw.edu\/rhrc\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2020\/10\/rhrc-leaders.jpg\" alt=\"Holly Andrilla, Davis Patterson\" width=\"300\" height=\"210\" \/><\/p>\n<h2>The WWAMI RHRC has lots of news to share:<\/h2>\n<h3>New funding<\/h3>\n<p>We recently received new funding from the Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) \u2013 $2.8 million over four years \u2013 that will continue to support the WWAMI RHRC in conducting policy-relevant research as one of nine national rural health research centers.<\/p>\n<h3>New leadership<\/h3>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/familymedicine.uw.edu\/rhrc\/profile\/?id=00093\">Davis Patterson<\/a>, formerly Deputy Director, assumed leadership of the WWAMI RHRC in September as its new Director, along with <a href=\"https:\/\/familymedicine.uw.edu\/rhrc\/profile\/?id=00005\">Holly Andrilla<\/a>, the Center\u2019s new Deputy Director. After eight years as Director of the WWAMI RHRC, <a href=\"https:\/\/familymedicine.uw.edu\/rhrc\/profile\/?id=00168\">Eric Larson<\/a> has stepped down from his leadership role. Big thanks to Eric for his service as Director, and we look forward to his continued work with the Center on a part-time basis.<\/p>\n<h3>New projects<\/h3>\n<p>We are beginning four new studies funded by FORHP this year (see the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/familymedicine.uw.edu\/rhrc\/studies\/\">complete list of our studies<\/a>):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Treatment, Provider, and Cost Differences for Rural and Urban Patients with Opioid Use Disorder Across the U.S.<\/li>\n<li>Comparing Utilization and Quality of Home Health Care Between Medicare Fee-for-Service and Medicare Advantage Beneficiaries by Rural-Urban Status<\/li>\n<li>Trends in Health Workforce Supply in the Rural U.S.<\/li>\n<li>Overcoming Barriers to Providing Rural Obstetrical Training for Physicians<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The WWAMI RHRC has existed since 1988 and continues to demonstrate the University of Washington School of Medicine\u2019s commitment to the health of rural communities.
