Amy Kim is finished her education at MEDEX Northwest with a preceptorship in urgent care at the Everett Clinic under Kimberly Duvall, PA-C. Earlier in her clinical year, she had a one-month urgent care rotation\u2014her first ever exposure to urgent care. But this four-month experience at The Everett Clinic at Smokey Point had a big impact on her. \u201cThis is what I’m drawn to, having this fast paced acuity and seeing patients,\u201d she says. \u201cAll my rotations have been fabulous, but I would like to continue with urgent care. I feel that I get most out of it. At the end of the day, you\u2019ve got to love what you do.\u201d\u00a0Born and raised in Seoul, South Korea, Amy is an International Medical Graduate.\u00a0 However, due to family circumstances, Amy couldn\u2019t continue to seek her medical licensing in the States.\u00a0\u201cObtaining a medical degree in the US requires a residency program with on-calls, and that was not an option for me at the time,\u201d she says. \u201cWith a young child, we really wanted to focus on family. I\u2019ve never given up on my dream to become a practicing clinician in the US.” Physician Assistant school turned out to be the right option for resuming her practitioner status in the US.\u00a0<\/i><\/p>\n
