Faculty Hiring at MEDEX Northwest<\/h2>\n

MEDEX faculty educate and inspire our students to become excellent PAs.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Active recruitments vary by campus, and applications are always accepted for all campuses (Anchorage, Kona, Seattle, Spokane, Tacoma).<\/p>\n

The University of Washington has an academic title and rank<\/a> system.<\/p>\n

Most new faculty will apply for\/start in a Lecturer rank\/title, which is “Non-Professorial<\/a>.” Once they have met the necessary criteria, or if they are new applicants and are experienced faculty who qualify, they may apply for a “Professorial Track<\/a>” rank\/title. Based on various factors, faculty members will have the opportunity to apply for these Professorial Tracks as their career at UW progresses.<\/p>\n

Internally at MEDEX, regardless of “Non-Professorial” or “Professorial” rank\/title at the UW level, there are two main roles. These roles are within the two main units in which faculty will work, which in turn match the two areas of instruction the students must complete: Didactic and Clinical. While faculty in both units are expected to assist as needed with the duties of each, there are two separate MEDEX job descriptions for these roles:<\/p>\n

Didactic: Didactic Lecturer<\/a><\/p>\n

Clinical: Clinical Coordinator<\/a><\/p>\n

In short, UW has professorial and non-professorial ranks\/titles<\/em>, and MEDEX has internal roles<\/em>. It isn’t easy to navigate the various inner-workings of a formidable public institution such as ours, but we hope this information helps you to identify the MEDEX faculty role with which you feel most aligned.
