Betty L. Stewart of MEDEX Northwest has been recognized as a Distinguished Fellow of AAPA for going above and beyond in service to her community and profession. She practices as a Clinical Coordinator at MEDEX and has been a PA for 22 years.
Betty Stewart earned this national recognition due to her outstanding contributions to patient care and the profession during her years as a PA. She also demonstrated significant dedication and involvement in Washington State, the WWAMI region and the state of Hawaii. Her accomplishments include:
Early career “Young Scientist” Award-International Myelodysplatic Society-Paris France
Directly mentored over 250 PA students that have gone on to complete their studies at the University of Washington MEDEX Northwest Physician Assistant Program
Responsible for developing over 400 clinical partners across the WWAMI regional training area
Served as Region 6 Director, member of Legislative Committee and WSMA Liasion for the Washington Academy of Physician Assistants
Published as first author in the prestigious Journals BLOOD & British Journal of Haematology
Named Director of Hawaii Campus & International Development -MEDEX for her work towards the UW MEDEX Northwest expansion of a fifth campus in the state of Hawaii
Previously, Betty Stewart served as a PA in Oncology at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, Rainer Medical Specialties and St Joesephʻs Medical Center. She is a graduate of MEDEX Northwest and the University of Washington. She is a native Washingtonian having graduated from Zillah High School.
The Distinguished Fellow program was established by AAPA in 2007 in order to recognize the exceptional contributions of PAs to the profession through professional achievement, leadership, professional interaction, learning and community service. Distinguished Fellows of AAPA, represent only two percent of the entire AAPA membership.
