Assistant Teaching Professor, Tacoma Distant Campus Coordinator

Originally from Maryland, I joined the US Coast Guard at 17 years old right out of high school. I worked as a helicopter crew chief performing search and rescue for 10 years while also attending college full-time to complete my prerequisites for PA school. I attended the Interservice Physician Assistant Program in San Antonio, TX and did my clinical rotations at Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach, FL, where I graduated with a BS in Biomedical Science and MS in Physician Assistant Studies.

After graduation, I worked in Primary Care, and in 2014 I attended the Army Flight Surgeon School. I have completed training in ATLS, Tactical Combat Casualty Care, as well as acupuncture and Substance Abuse screening and treatment. My last deployment prior to retiring was on a Polar Ice Breaker to the South Pacific and Antarctica. I retired from the military in 2019 and worked in Urgent Care for three years prior to accepting a faculty position with UW MEDEX in March of 2022.
