Associate Teaching Professor,
Kona Site Director
I have deep roots in the Northwest. I am a native Washingtonian, having grown up in the Yakima Valley and graduating from Zillah High School. I attended Highline Community College and graduated in respiratory therapy. I worked as a therapist for 11 years throughout Washington and Alaska before desiring a more primary role in the care of patients. I learned about our profession from alumni, and eventually graduated MEDEX class 30.
I have been blessed in my clinical career to work entirely in hematology/oncology.For me, there has never been a more privileged position than to stand beside a patient fighting cancer. This profession has also given me the opportunity to work side by side with some of the best and brightest in community oncology and academics at Fred Hutchinson and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance.
Returning to MEDEX at the new Tacoma site is a natural fit for me. I have spent the last 10 years working in Pierce County and the Kitsap Peninsula. I am extremely proud of this profession, especially when I meet MEDEX grads in the community who are leaders in their clinical practice and organization. I have mentored many students who now practice and I remain excited about what the future holds for our profession.
