From here, the concept of CRISP began.

As the CRISP co-convenors, Bill and Liz have worked together with the international CRISP Working Group. Together they have led a program of work to establish the need for primary care reporting guidelines, the content of such a guideline, and the international dissemination of CRISP. CRISP has been registered with the EQUATOR guideline network since the program of work commenced.

The CRISP research program has rigorously established the need for primary care reporting guidelines via a scoping review of existing literature, a needs assessment of clinicians and patients, a survey of the international primary care research community.

The final CRISP checklist was established through consensus in an international Delphi survey to ensure the checklist was usable, relevant and met the needs of researchers, clinicians and patients. You can view all of the outputs from this body of research under Presentations and Publications.

The CRISP mission and approach have been endorsed by NAPCRG (2019) and WONCA (2021) and this support from the international research community is much appreciated. This valued endorsement greatly assisted in engaging with the international primary care research community.

The CRISP team is on a mission to improve the reporting of primary care research so that it is more helpful for clinicians, patients, researchers and others.

The final CRISP Statement was published in the Annals of Family Medicine in October 2023. You can view the published checklist online: Improving the Reporting of Primary Care Research: Consensus Reporting Items for Studies in Primary Care—the CRISP Statement | Annals of Family Medicine (annfammed.org)

The CRISP Checklist is being translated into multiple languages to best serve the global primary care community.
