This national survey examined the proportion of rural-based family medicine residencies across the United States that have ceased operations since 2000, the residency match patterns of existing programs, changing proportions of International Medical Graduates (IMGs) and U.S. Medical Graduates (USMGs), and major issues facing rural residency programs.
